We’re delighted to announce that Board Voice has successfully worked to have the first day of Volunteer Week in BC declared Non-Profit Volunteer Boards Day!
April 24 will be the first ever Non-Profit Volunteer Boards Day in BC. The proclamation is now up on the BC Laws site, where it can be downloaded and shared with all those dedicated volunteer board members you know.
Some three million Canadians participate as volunteer board or committee members for non-profit organizations, which accounts for about 13 per cent of total volunteering (2018 General Social Survey on Giving, Volunteering and Participating, Statistics Canada) . All together, Canadians give five billion hours a year of their time to volunteering – equivalent to an astounding 2.5 million full-time jobs.
