The Board Voice Society of BC is a non-profit umbrella organization supporting the volunteer boards and senior staff of BC community non-profits and charities that provide the vital array of community social services aimed at well-being, inclusion, social health and connection for every British Columbian. Our members range from small non-profits to multi-million-dollar organizations, and deliver diverse services relevant to the social determinants of health.

We provide peer-to-peer support for boards. Check out the governance resources we have gathered, and are constantly updating. We send out a monthly newsletter to member organizations and weekly (more or less) e-blasts on issues that matter to our sector.

Board Voice jumps in on many issues of import to the non-profit community social services sector in BC. We’ve also got three ongoing initiatives: advocating for a social policy framework for the province; a new project of peer-to-peer workshops we’ll be leading for non-profit boards (virtual at the moment); and our work at BC’s Social Services Sector Roundtable

The roundtable brings together all the social ministries, Community Living BC, BC Housing, Community Social Services Employers Association, Public Sector Employers Council, the BC Government Employees Union, the Canadian Union of Public Employees, along with six umbrella organizations including Board Voice, to work collaboratively on the big issues for our sector – procurement/contracting, human resources, developing the foundations for social policy, and the multitude of sector-level issues that surface as we do this important work of social care for British Columbians.

In normal years, we also hold a great conference, usually in Richmond. But the pandemic has interfered with that, so we didn’t have one in 2020  or 2021, but we’ve got our fingers crossed for May 2022.

Our board members are all directors on the boards of our member organizations, and we welcome interest from our members in having one of their board members put their name up for election to our board.

Here we are on Facebook. And here we are on Twitter, and on LinkedIn. Let’s connect!
