BC Integrated Youth Services Initiative

Integration2

Congratulations to the Innerchange Foundation, Graham Boeckh Foundation, St. Paul’s Hospital
Foundation, Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research and the Ministry of Health for coming up with a better way for delivering youth services. A better way is exactly what the directors of Board Voice think of the recently announced provincial Integrated Youth Services Initiative projects. The five pilot projects, located in Abbotsford, Prince George, Kelowna, the North Shore, and Campbell River, along with the proto-type in Vancouver Granville, will be conducted over the next three years. Their objective is to provide a one-stop shop for health, counseling, mental health, substance use, social supports, youth and family support, and navigation services for youth and young adults.

We believe that integrated responses such as this are necessary and should become a standard expectation through an overarching provincial framework.

This new initative is the type of approach Board Voice hopes to promote through a two-year project, funded by the Vancouver Foundation, studying how we can improve the design and delivery of human services in BC through the development of an overarching policy framework. The project is titled There is a Better Way – A BC Framework for Wellbeing.

Bravo to the province and the initiating foundations for this thoughtful initative. Read more about this initaive here – http://www.bciysi.ca.
