The latest edition of Imagine Canada’s Early Alert newsletter brings a new worry for charities with donors who have automatic monthly donations set up on their Mastercards.
“Mastercard recently announced global changes to transaction processing rules,” notes the Sept 13 Early Alert. “The new rules would, among other things, require charities and non-profits to send monthly receipts to monthly donors with instructions on how to cancel their donations.”
The company initially planned to implement this change next week on Sept. 22. But the company has since delayed implementation until March 21, 2023. Imagine Canada reports hearing of concerns about this change from numerous members, and will be monitoring the issue.
