The upcoming 8th Annual Board Voice Conference and AGM will be held on November 17 and 18, 2017. We have an amazing line up of speakers addressing issues from board governance to the opioid crisis. We know that this event is not to be missed!
Fundraising is a critical task for all non-profits. Sometimes it seems that the task is so overwhelming it’s difficult to know where to start. Ultimately, fundraising is about relationships. We all create and maintain various relationships in our lives: friends, co-workers, neighbours and other board members. Our second workshop choice will look at the role of friends in fundraising:
A vital role for members of not-for-profit boards is bringing a community perspective, or lens, to the governance vision, mission and priority setting for their organizations. Equally vital are the ways board members convey the organizational mission/purpose to others in the community. This session will explore how boards get engaged in evolving “friends” of their organizations. These friends, who may spread the word of the good the organization does; refer those in need of services; speak to the community value with decision makers and founders; or volunteer their own expertise. In many instances “friend raising” is a precursor to “fundraising”. The session leaders will stimulate discussion with examples and lead this interactive session on approaches in urban and rural/northern contexts.
Friend raising is about making connections and creating relationships with others who can help move your organization’s goals forward. Building a large group of friends may help your organization move forward.
We look forward to seeing you at our conference!
