Social Policy Framework Needed for Growing Up in BC say social workers

Screen Shot 2015-07-19 at 3.15.36 PMThe BC Association of Social Workers (BCASW) is the latest organization to call for a Social Policy Framework for British Columbia. The Growing up in BC-2015 (produced by Representative for Youth, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Perry Kendall) report highlights the realities of life for children in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Several large gaps in outcomes have been noted by the BCASW with regard to children in care. Specifically, many children not ready to enter school and high drop out rates continue to plague the system. Aboriginal children continue to be over-represented.

Board Voice actively supports the BCASW’s call for the creation of a Social Policy Framework for BC.
