Terry Moist has been an active board member with the John Howard Society of North Island for more than three decades, and is currently chair of the board.

Centred in Campbell River with an office in Courtenay, JHSNI provides preventive and supportive services primarily to youth in those communities, as well as some services in Nanaimo, Port Alberni and Port Hardy.  The organization works closely with the Ministry of Child and Family Development, Corrections BC and Island Health, and offers a wide variety of programs, including .sex offender programs to adjudicated adult males in the Comox Valley, Campbell River and Port Hardy.

Terry is happily retired from 30 years of teaching special education programs. That work allowed him and his wife to volunteer in an education program in Kakamega, Kenya for six months, and to enjoy many other more selfish pursuits.  He’s a Community Lead with Board Voice, a role that involves him in advocacy around the importance of planning for better social outcomes.
